How to start a magic club at your school
To start a magic club at school, get a weekly 30–45 minute slot and one adult sponsor, cap the first group at a dozen or so upper-elementary or middle-school students, gather simple close-up supplies, launch with a kickoff show, run weekly sessions that pair one trick with one character virtue, and finish with a parent showcase.
Step 1: Get approval and a sponsor
Ask your principal for a weekly 30–45 minute slot and name one adult sponsor.
Step 2: Pick grades and a cap
Upper elementary and middle school work best. Cap the first club at a dozen or so students.
Step 3: Gather simple supplies
Playing cards, sponge balls, rope, and a few props per student. Close-up magic needs very little.
Step 4: Launch with a kickoff
A short show for the whole school fills the sign-up sheet the same day.
Step 5: Run weekly sessions
Each week: learn one trick, practice patter, present to a partner, tie it to a character virtue.
Step 6: Hold a showcase
Invite parents for a short showcase. Every student performs one trick.
